Feb "Boxing Day" Sales?

The Christchurch Central Business Association wants to hold an event they hope will replicate the experience of boxing day sales in Feb. Will this work? We consumers won't be on holiday or desperate to get out shopping after a few days of stuffing ourselves full of food with the rellies.

 

However if it means helping to save a few more great local businesses, then I say let's get behind this idea! However bizarre it may seem!
