Worried about the rebuilding process?

I know it's still early, but what is the plan to fill the holes where beautiful buildings once were? Are we only going to rely on developers? Have we now lost an essential, almost unnoticed element of our city? I fear that we'll begin to realise how much we took these old buildings for granted once some developer out to make a quick buck steps in to fill the gap.
